Alright, so I wanted to jot down this whole wild ride I had the other day during my usual morning sit. You know, just a chill meditation, nothing heavy, just trying to clear the junk out of my head.
I started off like I always do. Got my cushion, lit a bit of incense—sandalwood, my go-to—and just focused on my breath. Counting in, counting out. Everything was pretty standard for the first ten minutes. My mind was definitely buzzing a bit, still clinging to some work crap, but I was managing to pull it back.
The Shift Happens
Then, things got weird. Not scary weird, just… visually intense. I wasn’t trying to visualize anything specific, just letting whatever comes, come. Suddenly, the usual blackness behind my eyelids started shimmering. It wasn’t light, more like seeing through water when the sun hits it right.
I remember feeling this immediate sense of calm focus. Like the volume on my inner chatter just dropped to zero. It was a really deep state, quicker than usual, actually.
Then BAM. I saw them.
The Green Parrots Arrive
It started with a flash of vibrant green. It was so sharp, almost fluorescent, not like any natural green I usually see outside. I focused on the green, and it solidified. It was a parrot, perched on a branch that wasn’t really a branch, just floating in this vast, dark space.
This parrot was HUGE in my inner vision. Its feathers looked incredibly detailed, almost glowing. I wasn’t thinking, “Oh, that’s a parrot.” I was just observing this incredibly vivid image.
And then, its buddy showed up. Another equally large, equally vibrant green parrot, landing right next to the first one. Two of them. Sitting side by side.
My first conscious thought was almost a laugh: “Seriously? Parrots? What even is this?”
Observing the Details
I held the image. I didn’t try to analyze it, which is my usual downfall in deep meditation. I just watched them. They weren’t moving much, just sitting, looking ahead. They had these big, intelligent eyes.
- The color was key—that intense, pure green.
- There were exactly two of them. Not one, not three.
- They projected this feeling of absolute stillness and watchfulness.
The whole scene lasted maybe five or six minutes. It felt timeless, though. When they finally started to fade, it was slow, like dissolving smoke. The green got lighter and lighter until it was just back to the shimmery darkness.
What I Took Away
When I slowly came out of the sit, I felt energized and totally puzzled. I immediately grabbed my journal—you know I always keep records—and sketched out the color and how vivid it was.
Later that day, I did my usual deep dive into symbology, because, honestly, you can’t see two glowing green parrots and not ask what the universe is trying to tell you. I quickly looked up the spiritual meaning of green parrots. I found a few things that really resonated:
Green is often associated with the heart chakra, nature, growth, and renewal. I’ve been working on letting go of some old baggage, so growth made sense.
Parrots, specifically, are messengers of communication, intelligence, and intuition. I’ve been wrestling with how to communicate a tricky idea at work, so that hit home too.
But the two? That’s what hit me. Two often represents duality, balance, and partnership. It wasn’t about finding a partner—I’m happily married—but more about balancing two aspects of myself, or maybe balancing my inner voice with my outward communication.
It felt like a big, brightly colored sign saying: “Trust your voice, and keep growing forward. You have the tools to balance this.”
Since that morning, I’ve felt a lot more confident speaking up, and that intense green image has been a cool anchor point whenever I feel myself getting pulled back into doubt. It was a powerful, if strange, experience. Definitely keeping an eye out for any more neon birds in my next sit.
