Well, I’ve always been curious about dreams. One day, I thought, “Hey, let’s try to interpret dreams through symbols according to Sigmund Freud.” So, I started this interesting journey.
First, I got a notebook. I told myself, “From now on, I’ll record every dream I can remember right after I wake up.” And I did it. Every morning, as soon as my eyes opened, I’d grab that notebook and scribble down whatever fragments of the dream were left in my mind. It was like trying to catch a bunch of slippery fish in a dark pond, but I managed to get some details down.
Then, I went to the library and borrowed a book about Freud’s dream – interpretation theories. I sat down at my desk, opened the book, and started to read. It was a bit hard to understand at first, you know, Freud’s words are kind of tricky. But I kept at it, underlining the parts about symbols and how they might relate to our subconscious.

After that, I took my dream records and started to match the symbols in my dreams with what the book said. For example, I once dreamed about a big snake. According to Freud, snakes could represent sexual desires or hidden fears. I thought about my life at that time, and I realized that I was a bit stressed about a new relationship. Maybe the snake in my dream was a symbol of my hidden fear of getting hurt in this relationship.
As I kept doing this for more and more dreams, I started to notice some patterns. Some symbols kept showing up in different dreams, like houses. Freud said houses could stand for our sense of self. And I found that when I was feeling confident, the houses in my dreams were big and beautiful, but when I was down, the houses were old and shabby.
Finally, after weeks of this practice, I felt like I could understand my dreams a bit better. It was like opening a secret door to my own mind. I could see some of the things that were bothering me or exciting me deep down. And it was really cool to be able to use Freud’s ideas to make sense of all those strange dream images.
So, that’s my experience of trying to interpret dreams through symbols according to Sigmund Freud. It’s not always easy, but it’s definitely worth a try if you’re into understanding yourself better through your dreams.
